A Rockville Dream Come True
My wife and I chose Revive Kitchen & Bath to help design our kitchen and provide the cabinets. I found Revive Kitchen & Bath on the internet searching for cabinets after dropping our first designer due to inconvenient service hours and projected costs. I met Will Gowdy, one of the two owners. He walked me through Sunday Kitchen’s design and estimating process. Using basic dimensions, features, and work required, Mr. Gowdy immediately provided a rough estimate of the project ranging from $46 to $68 thousand dollars and project schedule of 6 weeks.
Mr. Gowdy’s friendly, low-key, informative approach impressed me as I dislike anyone trying to give me a hard sell. I set up a second meeting, this time to discuss design. At the second meeting, using his 3-D cad software and our kitchen’s dimensions, Mr. Gowdy was able to show me what my kitchen would look like. The great thing about the software was he could accurately dimension the kitchen, the cabinets, appliances, etc. and visualize the kitchen in three dimensions by using a “camera,” which he could position and rotate in any direction.
In several subsequent meetings, which included my wife, we were able to pick out the precise cabinets and update the 3-D drawing on the spot. Mr. Gowdy then produced a detailed project cost estimate and contract, which totaled a little under $35,000. This estimate included Revive Kitchen’s design costs, the cabinets by Crystal, recycle and waste bins, quartz countertops by Caesarstone, and a stainless steel sink, faucet and soap dispenser by Blanco. The estimate did not include the appliances, lighting, backsplash, or contractor, however, through Revive Kitchen, we obtained discounts from the appliance, lighting, and backsplash suppliers.
Throughout the process, Revive Kitchen kept us informed of the delivery of the cabinets, provided detailed plans for our contractor (who we had used on other projects and trusted), worked well with the contractor and aided in installing the cabinet handles. Also, Mr. Gowdy designed a kitchen table for us made by the Crystal Cabinets. Crystal had never made such a table, but did using Mr. Gowdy’s design and the materials of our darker cabinets. The final product was a beautiful, unique, sturdy and well-built table.
All and all, Revive Kitchen (Mr. Gowdy and his co-owner, Mr. Hawkins) were great and easy to work with. They were responsive in communicating, friendly, and able to provide ideas and suggestions without ever being overbearing. It was a real pleasure to work with them, and we highly recommend them.
Finally, our kitchen project was a complete make-over. We tore out everything, which affected the floor and walls. Part of the floor had to be replaced to match the existing floor. We also tore out the soffits and a pantry, added lighting and electrical wiring, re-routed plumbing, and widened two doors to the dinning by 6 inches each. We chose appliances by Electrolux, Sharp, U-Line, and Bosch. The total cost of the make-over (excluding the table, kitchen chairs, and new TV) was nearly $72,000. I have included some before and after pictures. --Doug. Rockville MD
